Ligue 1+ Reports Encouraging Subscription Uptake Ahead of Season Debut

New tiered pricing seeks rapid subscriber growth to offset previous broadcast revenue losses.

Overview

  • Ligue 1+ launched its subscription campaign on August 11 with tiered plans offering a promotional €9.99/month rate for three months, a standard €14.99 monthly fee with a 12-month commitment (€19.99 without commitment) and a €9.99 tariff for under-26s.
  • The platform will stream eight of nine Ligue 1 fixtures each matchday, beginning with the Rennes vs. Marseille opener on August 15, while beIN Sports retains the Saturday 17:00 broadcast slot.
  • LFP Media director general Nicolas de Tavernost described the early sign-up figures as 'very encouraging,' expressing confidence in subscriber momentum ahead of the first matchday.
  • Distribution agreements are in place with Free, Orange and SFR and via Samsung smart TVs, following Canal+’s withdrawal from talks earlier this summer.
  • LFP Media has set targets of 1 million subscribers by the end of the 2025-26 season and 2.2–2.5 million within four years and warns it will cut subscriptions if abusive account sharing is detected to combat piracy.
