Overview

  • The Elk Fire has grown to about 13,025 acres southeast of Meeker and remains at zero percent containment.
  • The Lee and Grease fires together cover roughly 7,750 acres southwest of Meeker and are also uncontained.
  • Evacuation and pre-evacuation orders remain in effect for multiple county roads near Meeker, including County Road 8 between mile markers 11 and 16.
  • Gov. Polis’s disaster emergency declaration activated the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the Division of Fire Prevention and Control to coordinate suppression efforts.
  • Forecasted high temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds under red flag warnings are expected to hinder firefighting operations across mixed-ownership lands.
