Overview

  • Both parks remain closed with mandatory evacuations for visitors, staff and nearby communities.
  • The South Rim blaze in Black Canyon has grown to nearly 3,000 acres with zero containment, prompting evacuations near Botswick Park.
  • In Arizona, the White Sage Fire near Jacob Lake has passed 20,000 acres and the Dragon Bravo Fire covers 1,500 acres, both uncontained.
  • Red-flag warnings for gusty winds, low humidity and high temperatures are complicating suppression efforts.
  • A coordinated response from federal, state and local agencies employs aerial drops and ground crews to protect park infrastructure and public safety.
