Lightning extend young forward Hagel with 8-year, $52M deal

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed 24-year-old forward Brandon Hagel to an eight-year, $52 million contract extension.
The deal will kick in for the 2024-25 season and carry an annual salary cap hit of $6.5 million.
Hagel was acquired by the Lightning in a trade last season after recording a career-high 64 points in 81 games.
The extension allows Tampa Bay to retain a key young player alongside stars like Kucherov and Vasilevskiy.
The Lightning gave up two first-round picks to get Hagel from Chicago, making the long-term investment to keep him.
