Overview
- Snow is forecast to arrive before dawn, starting 2–4 a.m. in southern zones and 4–6 a.m. in Washington, with the steadiest period around 6–9 a.m. and a taper by late morning.
- Totals are expected to be light near D.C. and Baltimore at a trace to about 1 inch, with around 1–2 inches south and east of the District and 1–3 inches in central Virginia, with isolated 4-inch pockets.
- Temperatures will remain below freezing with wind chills in the teens and 20s, allowing even light snow to create slick spots on untreated surfaces.
- D.C. activated an Extreme Cold Alert and deployed the District Snow Team to salt major roadways Thursday night, with crews pretreating across the region.
