Light Aircraft Crashes Into Stebbing Field, Pilot Suffers Minor Injuries

  • A light aircraft nosedived into a field near Whitehouse Road in Stebbing shortly before 1:30pm Monday.
  • Essex County Fire and Rescue crews joined police, the ambulance service, the Air Ambulance Service and the Hazardous Area Response Team in coordinating the rescue.
  • Station Manager Scott Fretton said firefighters used an off-road vehicle to dampen surrounding grass to eliminate ignition risk.
  • The adult male pilot was transported by road to Broomfield Hospital with minor injuries.
  • The crash site has been declared safe and authorities are reviewing the circumstances of the incident.
