Lifetime TV network is introducing the first ever sex scene in its upcoming Christmas movie, 'A Cowboy Christmas Romance', as part of its annual holiday series.
The film stars actor Adam Senn and actress Jana Kramer, who plays a real estate agent returning to her hometown in Arizona to reclaim land from a local rancher, reconnecting with her family and falling in love in the process.
Jana Kramer and Sarah Drew, one of the writers of the film, discussed the sex scene on Kramer's 'Whine Down' podcast, praising its execution and the fact that it was not cut from the film.
Tia Maggini, Senior VP of scripted content at Lifetime, expressed excitement about the addition of the adult-oriented scene, stating that they believe there's an audience hungry for grown-up romance.
Despite the network's enthusiasm, recent studies indicate that young audiences prefer to see more content portraying platonic relationships and close friendships, with 44.4% of youth surveyed feeling that romance in media is 'overused.'
