Overview

  • The rotating strikes by 1,200 LifeLabs workers, which began on February 19, have officially concluded following binding recommendations from mediator Mark Brown.
  • The new collective agreement, effective until March 31, 2027, includes wage increases, improved workload scheduling, shift differentials, mileage allowances, and premiums.
  • Mediation was finalized on May 14, with the agreement requiring no ratification due to the binding nature of the recommendations.
  • All employees returned to their regular schedules on April 26 as the agreement was being finalized, restoring full service at LifeLabs locations.
  • Both LifeLabs and the BC General Employees’ Union expressed satisfaction with the resolution, highlighting the collaborative efforts during mediation.
