Life Sentences for Mother and Partner in Toddler Murder Case

- Sian Hedges, 27, and her former partner Jack Benham, 35, have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Hedges' 18-month-old son, Alfie Phillips.
- The toddler suffered more than 70 injuries during a night of violence, including fractures to his ribs, arms and legs, and traces of cocaine were found in his system.
- The couple, both drug addicts, subjected Alfie to the attack during a drug and whisky-fuelled binge in their caravan in Kent in November 2020.
- Despite denying any harm to Alfie, the pair were convicted of murder by a unanimous verdict, with Hedges required to serve a minimum of 19 years and Benham a minimum of 23 years before parole consideration.
- Alfie's father, Sam Phillips, expressed his anguish in court, stating that he was robbed of the opportunity to see his son grow up and that he still feels he deserves answers.
