Lidl Cuts Checkout Cashback Minimum to €0.99 Across Germany

The change widens in‑store access to cash as supermarkets increasingly step into the gap left by fewer bank branches and ATMs.

Overview

  • Customers can withdraw €10 to €200 at Lidl checkouts in €10 increments by stating the amount at payment and confirming with a PIN.
  • Lidl now supports cashback on Girocard as well as Visa and Mastercard, with contactless payments enabled since March 2025.
  • The withdrawn amount is listed transparently on receipts and appears clearly on account statements.
  • Payouts are a voluntary service at store level and may be declined when tills lack sufficient cash, a situation reported more often in the evening.
  • The lower threshold aligns Lidl with rivals such as dm, Penny, Rewe and Aldi Nord, which have also reduced minimums, while separate guidance warns self‑checkout users that intentional non‑scanning can carry criminal penalties.
