Overview
- On Nov. 4 around 5 p.m., a state trooper received an alert for a stolen Illinois vehicle on I-40 in Quay County and conducted a felony stop near milepost 345.
- Troopers detained two occupants, identified the driver via a Texas ID as Naman Alfredo Vazquez, and arrested him on a stolen-vehicle charge.
- Cicero detectives confirmed the car belonged to a homicide victim and identified Vazquez as their primary suspect, alleging he shot, killed and burned the victim before fleeing Illinois.
- Investigators towed the vehicle for further examination, obtained search warrants for the car and for Vazquez, and booked him at the Quay County Detention Center after processing in Tucumcari.
- The juvenile who was in the vehicle with Vazquez was released to a relative, authorities said.
