She will remain the MP for Hochelaga while pursuing the leadership of Ensemble Montreal, with the party selecting its leader on April 6.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge to take over Ferrada's cabinet roles, including tourism and regional economic development for Quebec.
Ferrada's departure comes as the Liberal Party prepares for a potential spring election and a March 9 leadership vote to replace Justin Trudeau.
All major opposition parties have stated intentions to bring down the minority Liberal government when the House of Commons reconvenes on March 24.
