Li Auto Unveils First Full-Electric MPV, Targets Wealthy Consumers

The Beijing-based EV maker's new model, the Li Mega, will be equipped with fast-charging batteries and is set to begin production in February 2024.

  • Li Auto, a leading Chinese EV maker, has unveiled its first multipurpose vehicle (MPV), the Li Mega, targeting wealthy consumers seeking larger family cars.
  • The MPV, priced below 600,000 yuan (US$82,819), will be the first full-electric model by the Beijing-based carmaker, with production set to start in February 2024.
  • The Mega will be equipped with Qilin fast-charging batteries made by CATL, the world's largest EV battery producer, offering a 500-kilometre driving range on a 12-minute electric charge.
  • The MPV will be the first model to be assembled at Li Auto's new Beijing plant, which has an annual capacity of 100,000 units.
  • Li Auto broke its own monthly sales record for the seventh consecutive month in October, delivering 40,422 vehicles, a 12.1 per cent increase compared with September.
