LGBTQ+ Community Flocks to Florida Despite Hostile Laws

Tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ people are attending Gay Days in central Florida this weekend to send a message they are here to stay.
Despite anti-LGBTQ+ laws championed by Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida lawmakers, Gay Days organizers are encouraging visitors to attend one of Florida’s largest gay and lesbian celebrations.
A large turnout will demonstrate that LGBTQ+ people will not be intimidated or leave Florida.
The highlight of the weekend will be a Saturday meetup of LGBTQ+ visitors at the Magic Kingdom at Disney World, where the first Gay Days started in 1991.
The Human Rights Campaign recently issued a travel and relocation warning for Florida due to new laws passed by the Republican-controlled Florida Legislature that are hostile to the LGBTQ community and restrict abortion access.
