LG Uplus Reports AI Call App Data Exposure After Cache Error

The telecom attributes the leak to a misconfigured cache, not to hacking.

Overview

  • The exposure occurred between 8 p.m. on Dec. 2 and 10:59 a.m. on Dec. 3 during a service update to the ixi‑O app.
  • Call information for 36 customers was temporarily visible to 101 other users who newly installed or reinstalled the app.
  • The exposed data included phone numbers, call times and AI-generated call summaries, with no resident registration or financial details.
  • LG Uplus says it discovered the issue around 10 a.m. on Dec. 3, fixed the configuration to stop further exposure, and notified affected users by phone and text.
  • The company reported the incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission at about 9 a.m. on Dec. 6 and said it will cooperate with any authority review.
