LG Sinha Lays Foundation for 350 NGO-Funded Smart Houses in Jammu for Disaster and Shelling Victims

• Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched the housing initiative for families affected by recent natural calamities and Pakistani shelling during Operation Sindoor in Jammu district.
• HRDS India will fund and build 350 three-bedroom prefabricated Smart Houses at a reported cost of Rs 35 crore, with officials stressing no draw on the government treasury.
• The build is slated to finish within six months from the start of foundation work, and the houses are described as resilient, modern units.
• The NGO’s package includes free life insurance for all family members for 15 years, annual health checkups, and maintenance coverage for five years.
• The L-G said an MoU with HRDS India covers 1,500 houses for affected families, while authorities cited earlier relief of Rs 8.22 crore to 4,309 beneficiaries, temporary shelter for 23 Rah Salyote families, and ex-gratia plus a government job for a victim’s kin.
