LG Recalls 500,000 Electric Ranges Over Fire Hazards and Pet Deaths
Customers are offered warning stickers instead of refunds or replacements for ranges linked to dozens of fires and injuries.
- The recall affects LG Slide-In and Freestanding Electric Ranges sold between 2015 and January 2025, priced between $1,400 and $2,650.
- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received 86 reports of unintentional activation of front-mounted knobs, resulting in 28 fires, over $340,000 in property damage, eight minor injuries, and three pet deaths.
- LG is providing free warning labels and instructions to remind users to activate the existing 'Lock Out' or 'Control Lock' safety feature to prevent accidental activation.
- The ranges were sold at major retailers, including Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe's, and online at LG.com, with affected models manufactured in Mexico and South Korea.
- Consumers are advised to keep children and pets away from the knobs, avoid leaving objects on the range, and ensure knobs are turned off when not in use.
