Overview
- LG Electronics has opened its first electric vehicle (EV) charger factory in Texas, marking its first such facility outside of South Korea.
- The new factory, located in Fort Worth, spans 59,202 square feet and has the capacity to produce more than 10,000 chargers per year.
- Production of 11kW chargers has already begun, with plans to start assembling 175kW fast chargers in the first half of 2024 and 350kW ultra-fast chargers by the end of the year.
- The move aligns with LG's strategic focus on 'electrification' and its goal to reach $79 billion in sales by 2030.
- LG's expansion into the U.S. EV market is also in line with the U.S. government's goal to have at least 500,000 public EV chargers by 2030.
