LG Launches UltraGear Evo, a 5K-Focused Gaming Monitor Line With On-Device AI

LG positions the new range as delivering sharper 5K-class visuals through built-in processing that it says removes the need for GPU upgrades.

Overview

  • The company announced a global rollout ahead of CES 2026, introducing three flagship models—39GX950B, 27GM950B and 52G930B—spanning OLED, New MiniLED and ultra-wide formats.
  • LG says its on-device AI enables the world's first 5K AI Upscaling along with AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound, applying real-time processing without GPU overhead.
  • The 39-inch GX9 (39GX950B) is a 5K2K OLED with Dual Mode switching between 165Hz at native resolution and 330Hz at WFHD, a 0.03ms (GtG) response time and Primary RGB Tandem OLED.
  • The 27-inch GM9 (27GM950B) is billed as the first 5K New MiniLED, featuring 2,304 local dimming zones, Zero Optical Distance engineering, VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification and up to 1,250 nits peak brightness.
  • The 52-inch G9 (52G930B) is described as the largest 5K2K gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate and 1000R curvature, and LG plans CES demo zones plus day-one sales of the 27GX790B UltraGear GX7.
