LG CNS Launches PhysicalWorks to Orchestrate Mixed Robot Fleets

The company aims to turn pilot projects into factory and logistics deployments within two years.

Overview

  • LG CNS unveiled the two-part PhysicalWorks platform Thursday at its Seoul R&D center, pairing Forge for robot training with Baton for fleet control.
  • In a live demo at LG Science Park, four robots from Unitree, Deep Robotics, Dexmate and Bear Robotics completed a handoff without remote control, taking about 90 seconds over a few meters.
  • Baton already coordinates patrol, barista, luggage and cleaning robots in Busan’s national smart-city pilot, according to the company.
  • The firm is piloting the platform with about a dozen clients and says it is running more than 20 proof-of-concept projects across electronics, chemicals, batteries and shipbuilding.
  • Executives say they will lean on decades of factory IT work and fresh robotics investments to move from trials to paid deployments within one to two years.
