LFP Upholds 0-0 and Orders Immediate Stadium Sanctions for Nantes

The disciplinary panel has imposed a match behind closed doors plus two-match closure of the Loire stand, signalling a firmer league response to pyrotechnics and pitch invasions.

Overview

  • A pitch invasion by around 100 mostly masked Brigade Loire supporters who used and threw pyrotechnics forced referee Stéphanie Frappart to stop Nantes–Toulouse at the 22nd minute on 17 May, with the prefect declaring the match definitively halted.
  • On 27 May the LFP Commission de discipline read the instruction report and definitively upheld the 0-0 score that stood when the game was stopped.
  • The panel imposed immediate stadium measures on FC Nantes: one match to be played behind closed doors at the Stade de la Beaujoire followed by two firm closures of the Loire stand.
  • Nantes will not start its upcoming Ligue 2 season with points deducted as a result of this ruling, though the sanctions will restrict fan access and reduce matchday revenue for the club.
  • The same disciplinary session issued partial or full stand closures against other clubs including Marseille, Rennes, Metz and Lorient, and Toulouse questioned the decision on social media while reserving the right to appeal.
