The push comes after the pesticide clause was annulled, leaving the rest of the law in force.

Overview

  • Mathilde Panot announced the plan during LFI's summer meetings, saying the group will file a full repeal bill.
  • The bill will be introduced during LFI’s parliamentary “niche” on November 27, a day when the group controls the Assembly agenda.
  • On August 7, the Constitutional Council struck down the law’s most disputed measure that sought a conditional return of a neonicotinoid pesticide.
  • The following week, President Emmanuel Macron promulgated the remainder of the law without seeking a new parliamentary deliberation.
  • Originally adopted in early July with backing from macronists, LR and the far right, the law drew large protests and a petition topping 2.1 million signatures that will prompt a largely symbolic Assembly debate.
