Overview
- Leverkusen announced on August 4 that Patrik Schick has extended his contract until June 2030, adding three years to a deal that was due to run out in 2027.
- The Czech striker led the team with 27 goals in 45 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign and has scored 64 Bundesliga goals since joining in 2020.
- Schick’s new deal arrives after summer exits of captain Granit Xhaka, playmaker Florian Wirtz, defender Jonathan Tah, fullback Jeremie Frimpong and coach Xabi Alonso.
- Coach Erik ten Hag, appointed in May to oversee the rebuild, has brought in Malik Tillman, Jarell Quansah and goalkeeper Mark Flekken to reinforce the squad.
- Schick said he expects his extended stay to help Leverkusen sustain their ambitions in both domestic competitions and European play.
