Level Zero: Extraction Ends Development Two Weeks After Launch

The multiplayer survival horror game failed to meet player engagement and financial expectations, leading developer Doghowl to halt updates.

  • Level Zero: Extraction, a blend of extraction shooter and asymmetrical horror, launched its 1.0 version in late January 2025 after entering early access in August 2024.
  • Developer Doghowl announced that no further updates will be made due to the game’s underperformance and financial unsustainability for its small team.
  • The game peaked at 2,601 concurrent players during early access but saw numbers drop to under 100 following its full release, with only 10 players on Steam at the time of reporting.
  • Servers for Level Zero: Extraction will remain online indefinitely, and monthly wipes will continue, but no new content, events, or features will be added.
  • Doghowl has shifted focus to a new multiplayer co-op project, hoping to apply lessons learned from Level Zero: Extraction to future endeavors.
