Overview
- Fire erupted at 11:40 AM in the electric duct between the 16th and 18th floors of the 20-storey N G Royal Park building in Kanjurmarg East.
- The Mumbai Fire Brigade declared the incident Level I at 12:10 PM and deployed three fire engines, a fire tender, two jumbo water tankers, a breathing apparatus van, a high-rise firefighting vehicle, a turntable ladder, a quick response unit and three ambulances from the 108 service.
- No injuries were reported by 12:22 PM and all residents were evacuated as a precaution.
- The building’s in-place fire safety systems helped contain the blaze until external firefighting units arrived.
- Officials have opened an inquiry into the cause, with public pressure mounting over persistent electrical faults and fire-safety lapses in Mumbai’s aging high-rises.
