Lethbridge-West Byelection Scheduled for December 18
The vote will fill the seat vacated by former NDP MLA Shannon Phillips, with UCP and NDP candidates already in place.
- The Lethbridge-West byelection will take place on December 18, with advance polls opening on December 10.
- The seat has been vacant since former NDP MLA Shannon Phillips resigned in June after holding it since 2015.
- John Middleton-Hope, a Lethbridge city councillor and former police chief, is running for the United Conservative Party.
- The NDP candidate is Rob Miyashiro, a former city councillor who previously ran unsuccessfully in Lethbridge-East during the 2023 provincial election.
- The byelection result will not impact the UCP's majority in the legislature, where they currently hold 49 of 87 seats compared to the NDP's 37.
