LeipzigDresden Line to Undergo Four-Day Rerouting as Final Segment Nears Launch

Service on the LeipzigDresden line will be rerouted by replacement buses to allow for final signalling works on the ZeithainLeckwitz segment.

Overview

  • From July 25 to 28, all long-distance trains between Leipzig and Dresden will be diverted via alternative routes, extending journey times by about 60 minutes.
  • Regionalexpress services between Riesa and Priestewitz will be partly replaced by buses, and nighttime RX trains between Riesa and Coswig will be fully suspended on July 25–26.
  • DB InfraGO will suspend all train operations from Friday 21:00 to Monday 21:00 to connect the second track to signalling and safety technology on the ZeithainLeckwitz section.
  • The ZeithainLeckwitz segment is scheduled to enter service by the end of July, closing a key gap toward continuous 200 km/h high-speed travel.
  • Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe and Deutsche Bahn have updated schedules and digital information channels to guide passengers through the disruptions.
