Overview
- Organizers confirmed the Lichtfest will light a marked route through the city center between Nikolaikirchhof and Matthäikirchhof with orange streetlights guiding visitors.
- Six curated projects will run along the route, including an open‑air exhibition, the 'Faces of Light' installation, two video works and the Kerzen‑89 candle installation.
- The Kerzen‑89 offers free candles at staffed stands and opportunities to speak with time witnesses while symbolic candle sponsorships will raise funds for the Haus Steinstraße youth cultural center.
- TARO TANZ will perform four 30‑minute sets on the Marktplatz and free one‑hour guided tours about the Peaceful Revolution meet at the Nikolaikirchhof fountain to provide historical context for attendees.
- Organizers expect thousands of visitors so the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe will reroute bus line 89 and attendees are urged to arrive on foot, by bike or via public transport because parking is limited.
