Leipzig Police Warn of Fake Officers After Senior Losses Reported

Callers arrange doorstep visits to collect cash and jewelry under the guise of securing valuables.

  • An 89-year-old on Prellerstraße gave several thousand euros and jewelry to two men posing as police who rang her door on Sunday, according to a police spokesperson.
  • Investigators also report suspects posing as housing-company staff who request access to read heating systems or meters, then distract residents while an accomplice searches for valuables.
  • At least five attempts were logged in Leipzig and Wurzen in which perpetrators failed to obtain valuables, police said.
  • Two suspected female perpetrators, ages 33 and 19 and identified as Romanian citizens, were detained in Delitzsch on September 30 and are being investigated for theft.
