Lehi Utah Temple Groundbreaking Scheduled for Dec. 5

The invitation-only ceremony will begin formal construction of the temple under the direction of Elder John A. McCune.

Overview

  • The First Presidency published the invitation-only Dec. 5 groundbreaking date on ChurchofJesusChrist.org on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026.
  • Elder John A. McCune, a General Authority Seventy in the Utah Area Presidency, will preside at the ceremony that launches the formal construction phase.
  • Plans call for a multistory temple of about 85,000 square feet on roughly 22.48 acres at 3950 North and Center Street in Lehi with a meetinghouse on the site.
  • Preliminary infrastructure work began in August 2025 and the Dec. 5 service is one of three same-day temple groundbreakings worldwide that include Calabar, Nigeria, and Viña del Mar, Chile.
  • The project adds to Utah’s dense temple network, which includes more than 30 announced or operating sites, and follows nearby activity such as the Heber Valley construction and the Smithfield temple dedication set for April 18, 2027.
