Leh Lets Shops, Classes Up to 8 Reopen, Limited Buses to Run Oct. 3

Officials are restoring services in phases under Section 163 with crowd bans still in force.

Overview

  • An official order allows all shops and schools up to Class 8 in Leh district to open from Friday, October 3.
  • Small buses are permitted to operate only between 10 am and 6 pm on October 3 under the same directive.
  • The directive was issued by Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Shabbir Hussain on the district magistrate’s directions.
  • Authorities reiterated prohibitory orders that bar assemblies of five or more people and urged strict compliance.
  • The phased easing follows violent protests on September 24 that left four dead and damaged public property, linked to demands for Ladakh statehood and Sixth Schedule safeguards.
