Legendary Sabres broadcaster Rick Jeanneret passes away at 81

Jeanneret was the voice of the Sabres for 51 years starting in 1971 until his retirement in 2022, the longest tenure in NHL history.
He was known for his signature calls like "Top shelf where mama hides the cookies" and "May Day! May Day!"
Jeanneret received many honors including induction into the Sabres Hall of Fame and the Hockey Hall of Fame's Foster Hewitt Award.
The Sabres honored Jeanneret by raising a banner in his name during his final season.
Jeanneret's passion endeared him to Sabres fans and his death was deeply mourned by the team and city of Buffalo.
