Legendary New York News Anchor John Roland Dies at 81

John Roland, a longtime anchor for WNYW in New York, died at the age of 81.
Roland anchored the 10 p.m. newscast for nearly 30 years until retiring in 2004.
He covered major news events in New York from the 1970s through the early 2000s, including the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Roland confronted armed robbers in 1983 and got in an on-air argument with a homeless woman in 1988.
Roland is survived by his wife Zayda, and enjoyed retirement in Florida.
