Legendary ESPN Broadcaster Dick Vitale to Undergo Multiple Vocal Cord Surgeries, Hopes to Return This Season

Dick Vitale will have two vocal cord surgeries this summer after issues from past surgeries have resurfaced.
The first surgery will take place July 11, and Vitale will rest his voice for six to eight weeks.
Vitale's doctor is optimistic Vitale will return for his 45th season calling games for ESPN.
Vitale had surgery earlier this year for dysplasia and ulcers on his vocal cords and was diagnosed with lymphoma in October 2021.
Vitale is a Hall of Fame basketball broadcaster and remains under contract with ESPN through 2023-2024.
