Left Unity Sweeps JNUSU Elections, Reclaiming All Four Central Posts

After a close, multi-round count with 67% turnout, the coalition also secured a majority of councillor seats.

  • AISA’s Aditi Mishra won the presidency with 1,861 votes, defeating ABVP’s Vikas Patel who secured 1,447.
  • K. Gopika Babu took vice-president with 2,966 votes to Tanya Kumari’s 1,730, as Sunil Yadav edged the general secretary race 1,915–1,841 and Danish Ali won joint secretary 1,991–1,762.
  • The alliance of AISA, SFI and DSF captured every central post, leaving the ABVP without a seat after its lone win in the previous cycle.
  • The JNU Election Committee reported 9,043 eligible voters and a 67% turnout, slightly below last year’s 70%.
  • Declared results show the Left bloc also won a majority of the 47 student councillor seats across JNU schools.
