Left Unity Sweeps JNU Polls, Wins All Four JNUSU Posts

The result reverses ABVP’s April breakthrough to reassert the Left’s long campus dominance.

Overview

  • AISA’s Aditi Mishra was elected president, with final tallies reported around 1,937 votes to ABVP’s Vikas Patel’s 1,488, making her JNU’s first woman president since 2019.
  • K. Gopika (SFI) won vice president with about 3,101 votes, Sunil Yadav (DSF) took general secretary with roughly 2,005, and AISA’s Danish Ali secured joint secretary with around 2,083.
  • The JNUSU Election Committee and multiple outlets reported a 67% turnout from roughly 9,043 eligible voters.
  • Early rounds showed ABVP leading the secretary races before later counts from key schools swung all four central posts to the Left.
  • Beyond the central panel, Left-affiliated candidates also won a majority of councillor seats across JNU schools.
