Overview

  • Gallup Korea’s Tuesday–Thursday survey of 1,004 adults found job approval at 56%, down 3 points from last week, with disapproval rising to 35% (±3.1 points).
  • Respondents most frequently cited the recent special pardons, perceptions of excessive welfare and livelihood support, and poor diplomacy as reasons for negative views.
  • An NBS poll released a day earlier put approval at 57%, eight points lower than two weeks prior, and reported 54% holding a negative view of the pardons.
  • Party support moved differently by poll: Gallup measured the Democratic Party at 44% and the People Power Party at 25%, while NBS recorded 40% and 19%, respectively.
  • The pardons included former justice minister Cho Kuk, released last week after eight months of a two-year sentence, and former lawmaker Youn Mee-hyang.
