Overview

  • A Realmeter survey of 2,507 adults conducted June 9–13 shows 58.6% positive ratings for Lee’s first week, with 34.2% negative and a 3.1% margin of error
  • Lee’s approval exceeds Yoon Suk Yeol’s first-week 52.1% and Park Geun-hye’s 54.8% but trails Moon Jae-in’s 81.6% and Lee Myung-bak’s 76%
  • Democratic Party support climbed to 49.9%, up 1.9 points, while People Power Party backing fell 4.4 points to 30.4%, widening their gap to 19.5 points
  • Following his June 4 inauguration without a transition period, the state affairs committee met in Gwanghwamun to act as a 60-day transition team (with a possible 20-day extension) and will establish a task force for ministry restructuring
  • Lee’s administration has initiated diplomatic outreach, including President Lee’s call with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and talks between Seoul’s national security adviser and a Japanese prime ministerial adviser
