Lebanon to File UN Complaint Over Israeli Border Wall Alleged to Cross Blue Line

UNIFIL reports the structure has cut off more than 4,000 square meters of Lebanese territory.

Overview

  • The Lebanese presidency said it will submit an urgent complaint to the Security Council citing a breach of Resolution 1701 and Lebanese sovereignty.
  • UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said the wall has made more than 4,000 square meters of Lebanese land inaccessible to civilians, and UNIFIL has asked for its removal.
  • An Israeli military spokesperson denied the barrier crosses the UN‑demarcated Blue Line, calling it part of a broader IDF plan begun in 2022 to bolster the northern border.
  • A UNIFIL statement cited in reports said an October investigation found a concrete section near southwest of Yaroun crossed the Blue Line, restricting local access.
  • UNIFIL continues to monitor the area between the Litani River and the Blue Line as the border dispute is taken to the Security Council.
