Overview
- The orange alert covers all eight departments: Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne and Val-d’Oise.
- Accumulations are forecast at 5–7 cm in the western half of the region, 2–5 cm in the east and 1–2 cm in Paris and the Petite Couronne.
- Météo-France expects the disturbance moving in from Brittany to generate snow or, in places, freezing rain as it meets the entrenched cold air mass.
- Nationwide, 73 departments remain under yellow vigilance, including 29 for extreme cold, 53 for snow and ice, six for avalanches and one for storms.
- The episode is described as brief with possible disruption to activity, with snow likely to melt from around midday Sunday as milder air returns, and Auvergne could see an upgrade if freezing rain becomes more widespread.
