LAX/Metro Transit Center Station Opens, Bringing Rail Service Closer to LAX

Overview

  • The station debuted on June 6, 2025, at 5 p.m. at Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street, marking the closest rail connection to Los Angeles International Airport.
  • The new hub connects the Metro K Line and C Line, enabling seamless travel from Redondo Beach through Inglewood to Norwalk with transfers now at the transit center.
  • Shuttle buses running every 10 minutes will ferry passengers along the 2.5-mile route to airport terminals until the automated People Mover begins service next year.
  • Metro is offering free fares on all rail and bus lines through Sunday to celebrate the opening of the transit center.
  • The $900 million facility features a 16-bay electric bus plaza, a bicycle hub, passenger pickup and drop-off zones and short-term parking as part of Metro’s ‘28 by 28’ projects ahead of the 2028 Olympics.
