Lawsuit Alleges 9-Year-Old Girl Repeatedly Raped on Boston School Bus

The suit claims Boston Public Schools, the Match Charter School, and a Transdev driver and monitor failed to protect the girl, leading to her dropping out of school.

  • A nine-year-old girl's family has filed a lawsuit against Boston Public Schools, the Match Charter School, and a Transdev driver and monitor, alleging the girl was repeatedly sexually assaulted and raped by an 11-year-old student on a Boston school bus over a seven-month period during the 2022-2023 school year.
  • The lawsuit alleges that the assaults took place just a few feet from the bus monitor and the bus driver, who either knew or should have known of the abuse, and failed to intervene, report the abuse, or take steps to prevent it from reoccurring.
  • Despite Transdev's requirement for buses to have mandatory video equipment onboard, the lawsuit alleges that no video was available for any of the days of the alleged assaults.
  • The girl, a fourth-grade student at the Match Community Day Charter School in Hyde Park, was forced to drop out of school before completing the fourth grade due to fear of physical and social backlash.
  • Boston Public Schools stated that all buses have cameras but due to the time that had passed, officials were not able to retrieve any footage of the alleged assaults.
