Overview

• Construction of the CircEcon research center commenced on June 11 at the Schwarze Pumpe industrial park straddling Brandenburg and Saxony.
• The facility is expected to begin operations in early 2027 to design strategies for greenhouse gas-neutral circular economy and recycling technologies.
• A consortium of Technische Universitäten Dresden, Chemnitz and Freiberg along with Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz will drive collaborative research efforts.
• Federal and Saxony state governments are investing a combined total of approximately €108 million to support the project.
