Lausitz Festival 2025 Program Announced with Shakespeare, Sorbian Legends, and Musical Tributes

The sixth annual festival, running from August 24 to September 14, 2025, will feature performances in unique venues, celebrating regional transformation and global artistry.

Ticket sales are now open for the 2025 Lausitz Festival, which will host approximately 30 events across South Brandenburg and East Saxony.
The festival will open with the premiere of 'Sonettfabrik,' inspired by Shakespeare's sonnets, at the historic briquette factory in Domsdorf.
Highlights include a new production of 'Othello/Die Fremden' at a former glass factory in Weißwasser and the family opera 'Krabat,' based on a Sorbian legend, in Görlitz.
Musical tributes will honor Arvo Pärt's 90th birthday with a live-streamed concert and celebrate Kurt Weill's 125th anniversary with a performance by Ute Lemper in Bautzen.
This year's theme, 'unsbewusst,' emphasizes community and collective identity, aligning with the festival's mission to showcase the cultural transformation of the Lausitz region.
