Lauren Boebert Apologizes After Mistaken Identity Incident in Capitol Restroom

The congresswoman wrongly accused someone of being a man in the women’s bathroom, later acknowledging her error.

Rep. Lauren Boebert mistakenly accused someone of being a man in the women’s restroom near the House floor in the Capitol on Thursday.
Boebert initially believed she had seen Rep. Sarah McBride, the first openly transgender member of Congress, in the restroom, despite McBride adhering to Speaker Mike Johnson’s ban on transgender individuals using single-sex bathrooms.
After realizing her mistake, Boebert apologized and stated that she had learned a lesson from the incident.
The incident was witnessed by Bloomberg reporter Billy House, who confirmed that all individuals exiting the restroom were women.
Rep. Nancy Mace, who has vocally opposed transgender access to gender-affirming facilities, accompanied Boebert back to the restroom during the episode.
