Latur Civic Chief Babasaheb Manohare Airlifted to Mumbai After Suicide Attempt

The municipal commissioner remains in critical but stable condition following emergency surgery for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Babasaheb Manohare, Latur's municipal commissioner, shot himself in the head on Saturday night at his official residence using his licensed pistol.
Emergency surgery was performed at Sahyadri Hospital to manage severe brain injuries caused by the bullet, which entered from the right side and exited through the skull.
Manohare's condition is critical but stable, with signs of neurological improvement, according to medical officials at Sahyadri Hospital.
On Monday morning, he was airlifted to Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for advanced neurorehabilitation, facilitated by a green corridor to expedite the transfer.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a family dispute may have contributed to the suicide attempt, though no suicide note was found at the scene.
