Latter-day Saint General Conference Closes With Focus on Ministering, Healing and Family

Dallin H. Oaks closed the sessions during the apostolic interregnum by underscoring the Church’s family-centered doctrine.

Overview

  • In his concluding remarks, President Dallin H. Oaks taught that the gospel centers on the family, urging parents to teach, prioritize marriage and children, and strengthen homes through shared worship and daily efforts.
  • Elder Gerrit W. Gong called for congregations where “no one sits alone,” encouraging members to genuinely welcome and minister so all feel they belong, noting worshipers now gather from 195 birth countries in 31,916 congregations.
  • Elder Peter M. Johnson emphasized “ministering to the one,” saying love without judgment invites people to come unto Christ and worship in the temple, supported by daily scripture study and weekly sacrament.
  • Elder Neil L. Andersen taught that forgiveness and healing are found in the atoning love of Jesus Christ, offering assurance to those repenting of serious sin and to those wounded by others’ actions.
  • Elder Quentin L. Cook reported nearly 900,000 converts in the past 36 months, with conversions up more than 20% this year in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Latin America, and 17% in North America.
