Overview
- The new missions take effect July 1, 2026 and will be created by adjusting existing mission boundaries.
- The Church detailed a regional breakdown: 16 in Africa, 14 in the United States, five in the Philippines, five in the Pacific, four each in Europe and South America, three in Brazil, two in Canada, and one each in Asia and Mexico.
- Reported missionary totals have grown from just over 65,000 at the end of 2022 to nearly 72,000 in 2023 and to more than 84,000 currently, with service in 150+ countries and teaching in 60+ languages.
- Elder Quentin L. Cook said the expansion will balance missionary numbers across missions to help leaders better support and mentor those they oversee.
- The move follows the opening of 36 new missions on July 1, 2024, and the Church has published the full list of new mission names and locations.
