Overview

• The fire started just before midnight Sunday in a 50-by-60-foot pole barn on the 19100-block of Crowley Road in unincorporated Harvard
• Flames spread to a larger adjacent barn before crews brought the blaze under control about an hour later and remained on scene for hours to extinguish hot spots
• Six horses were found dead inside the structure and no human injuries were reported
• The Harvard Fire Protection District led the response with assistance from neighboring departments due to rural water constraints
• Officials say the cause of the fire remains under investigation
