Overview
- The Climate Prediction Center’s 6–10 day outlook issued August 19 favors below-normal temperatures for August 25–29 across the Midwest, with the strongest odds in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri and parts of Minnesota, Michigan, Kentucky, Nebraska, and Kansas.
- For Ohio, the CPC assigns an 80% to 90% chance of below-average temperatures from August 26 through August 30.
- NWS Cleveland forecasts highs in the upper 60s to low 70s early next week and overnight lows in the 50s, placing Cleveland more than 10 degrees below the 30-year average.
- A strong cold front late Saturday into Sunday is expected to bring showers and a few thunderstorms, followed by much cooler Canadian air and periods of lake-effect showers into midweek.
- The CPC’s 8–14 day outlook for August 28–September 3 continues to show elevated probabilities of below-normal temperatures in Ohio, indicating the cool pattern could persist into the Labor Day period.
